Paediatricians are doctors who have undertaken specialist training in child health beyond their initial medical training. That training equips them to treat and manage all aspects of a child’s wellbeing. We take pride in addressing the physical, psychological, emotional, and developmental needs of children.
Using recognised benchmarks and developmental milestones, your paediatrician will diagnose, recommend and deliver treatment, or refer your child to sub-specialists if required.
Darwin Paediatrics can also access a range of specialist, multidisciplinary and allied health services for the benefit of your child and family.
Holistic paediatric care can begin before your child is born. Paediatricians work closely with obstetricians—doctors specialising in pregnancy and childbirth. Paediatricians may be called to attend a delivery at the request of your obstetrician. They may also provide antenatal consultations in the event of a concern regarding your unborn child. This care then continues from the newborn period right through to adolescence, ending only at the completion of high school, when adolescent transition to adult care and independence.
For paediatricians, holistic care starts and continues with the family as the central point of contact. Children are always considered in the context of their family. Medical assessment and management plans are always formulated in consultation with parents and or caregivers, who are viewed as an essential part of the treating team.Contact Us
